The following story is fiction; created because of the following graphic that my dear friend, Brenda, sent to me.   I hope you enjoy it!

Fluffy, Corky the Clown, and the Fur Coat!

It was a warm summer afternnon and Fluffy was tired and didn't want to play ball any longer. His little friend, Junior, was practicing his pitching for the game later in the evening.

Fluffy wandered to the far end of the yard and to his surprise he found an old fake fur coat. Why it was so old and musty he thought it must have been there for years. He began to dig a hole thinking he should bury it until he could decide just what to do with it.

A voice called to him "What are you doing Fluffy?" and when he turned he saw his old pal Corky the Clown slumped on the lawn.

"Hi Corky" he replied. "Come see what I found".

Corky happened to belong to Junior's little sister and she was tired of playing with him so she tossed him on the grass and went into the house. But what she didn't know was Corky had "Special" powers. He could come to life and move and talk without anyone pretending for him. But he would only do this when he was with the other toys or with his favorite pal, Fluffy.

So Corky made his way over to see what the big deal Fluffy was yapping about. "Gee Fluff, it looks like an old fur coat" said Corky, not impressed at all.

"Yes" replied Fluffy. "I am going to bury it until I can think of what to do with it. I want to do something special."

"It sure would make a nice blanket for you to sleep on" said Corky.

"What a great idea Corky, but it smells pretty bad" replied Fluffy.

"Then why don't you wash it?" asked Corky.

"Gee do you think that will work? I'll go get the soap now and we can wash it together" said Fluffy without waiting for a reply.

Off Fluffy went and brought back a big box of Cheer. Together they pulled out the big wash tub that was mostly used to give Fluffy his bath and put the coat in it. Then they dragged the garden hose out and poured almost all the soap into the tub. Finally they added the water.

"Oh, oh, oh, look what happened Fluffy!" exclaimed Corky.

The bubbles were everywhere! Fluffy became sidetracked and started chasing them, having so much fun. Corky, on the other hand, was having problems. The coat was so big and so wet that when he tried to pick it up he was pulled right into the soapy water himself. Poor Corky was soaked with bubbles. When he tried to speak more bubbles came out of his mouth.

Fluffy stopped chasing the bubbles when he noticed his friend needed help. He ran over to him and pulled the coat off. When he did, he too got a mouthfull of soapy bubbles!

The two friends sat on the grass laughing at each other all the while bubbles continued to flow out of their mouths.

Meanwhile Junior's mother heard the commotion and came outside to see what was going on. You probably heard her scream at your house! "My Fur Coat!" she exclaimed. "What have you done to my coat" which was more of a statement than a question.

Fluffy and Corky just looked at each other. Naturally they couldn't talk to a real person so they just sat quiet. Now remember Corky is a toy clown and Fluffy is a dog so guess who got all the blame?

It appears Junior's mother had placed the coat on the clothesline to air it out. The wind must have taken it and that is why it landed in the bushes. But Fluffy didn't know that and Junior's mother didn't know the wind blew it off the line so Fluffy was in big big trouble.

After a long scolding Junior's mother took what was left of her coat, turned away, and headed back to the house crying. Along came Junior again and asked his mother why she was crying. "Your dog just ruined my good fur coat" she sobbed. "He pulled it off the line and look what he did to it!" she exclaimed with her voice at a high pitch.

Junior looked at the coat filled with suds and looked at his mother. "Mom, I didn't see the coat on the line when Fluffy and I came out to play" he said. "Maybe it fell off and Fluffy thought it was a blanket for him" he continued.

Junior's mother looked down at her son and smiled. "You are probably right and now I feel bad for being upset with Fluffy" she said as she placed her hand on Junior's head. "Well it is ruined now so I might as well give it back to him."

Fluffy and Corky were still staying very quiet as they thought he was really in the dog house. When they saw Junior and his mother coming their way Fluffy coward down even more. To his surprise Junior and his mother had a smile and she gently placed her hand on his head patting him saying "Oh Fluffy I am sorry. I jumped to conclusions and should not have done that."

Well Fluffy's ears perked right up with those words and the tone of her voice. He cocked his head to the side looking up at her. She continued "You must have found this on the ground and thought it was your blanket." With that Fluffy jumped up and licked her face with glee but when he did, all those bubbles came out of his mouth! They all laughed. Then Junior's mother handed the coat to Fluffy and told him he could have it.

After Junior and his mother went into the house Corky started to speak again and, yes, with bubbles coming out of his mouth too! He was so happy for Fluffy that he started dancing. Fluffy started chasing the bubbles again and they both had a wonderful time playing together until all the bubbles disappeared.

Later that evening after the ballgame Junior and his mother took the hose and washed out all the soap. They then spread out the coat on the lawn to dry so Fluffy could have a new blanket!
The End
